2023 INNOGRID “BETWEEN URGENCY AND ENERGY TRANSITION: GETTING THE BALANCE RIGHT”
This year edition of InnoGrid, organized by the European Distribution System Operators' Association (E.DSO) and the European Network of Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E), was held last June in Brussels, Belgium. Sessions took place on 9 and 14 June.
This is an
annual event for the last 12 years that approaches the European
innovation in power networks.
This year's conference theme was "Between urgency and energy transition: Getting the balance right". Basically this topic was debated focusing on 2 questions:
- How to advance on the energy transition while dealing with the energy crisis?
- How to speed up the development and uptake of new technology solutions to meet the 2030 climate objectives and at the same time coping with energy emergency measures?
Key pillars
on the discussion were Electrification, Digitalization and Cooperation.
It was reinforced that "grids" are urgently needed to fulfill the EU Green Deal, the FitFor55 ambitions and the REPowerEU initiative.
The
identified trilemma is still the same: a reliable, sustainable and affordable
energy system!
This edition reinforce that innovations continue to be needed at all levels, from the consumers premises to the control centers.
Implementation
is the key word, as is removing the barriers that delay deployment of emerging
solutions.
In summary, it became evident the urgent need for implementation of all type of efficient proven solutions, in a short timeframe and at a minimized cost.
