The objective of Co4RES is to develop and demonstrate innovative control and operation tools enabling secure, efficient, and coordinated integration of very high shares of renewable energy into Europe's power systems.
Co4RES delivers coherent forecasting and control hierarchies, ensuring temporal and spatial consistency to support TSO-DSO and cross-border coordination. New forecasting approaches will combine data-driven methods, digital twins to improve predictability of RES and demand.
The project will design advanced solutions for frequency and voltage stability, including fast-acting automated controllers and coordinated reactive power management. Innovation is grounded in seven large-scale pilot sites across Europe, involving 11 system operators (TSOs & DSOs), including challenges from data centres, storage systems, and flexible demand assets.
By unlocking demand-side flexibility and validating advanced coordination tools, Co4RES will demonstrate how distribution networks, transmission systems, and new consumers can become active resources for the energy system.
