R&D NESTER RECOGNIZED FOR ITS WORK ON FLEXIBILITY AND ENERGY COMMUNITIES

FleXunity Project just won the ISGAN Award of Excellence 2023, this year recognizing excellence in AI for Smart Grids.

R&D Nester led the work on balancing markets in FleXunity Project.

9th edition of ISGAN Awards of Excellence is sponsored by the International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN) in partnership with the Global Smart Energy Federation (GSEF).

These awards recognize excellence in innovation, integration, and transformation of smart grid systems and policy.

The award attributed to the FleXunity project was received by the project coordinator, Cleanwatts, at the 14th CEM - Clean Energy Ministerial conference that was held in Goa, India, this month of July.

FleXunity project started in December 2019 and ended last month of May. Its main objective was to deploy novel services for managing energy communities and their integration in the electric power system, including their participation in the energy and ancillary services markets, enhanced by Virtual Power Plant (VPP) technology empowered with AI algorithms focused on optimizing the use of distributed renewables from the utility or community portfolio.

The innovative services developed in this project will enable new business models from managing multiple energy flexibility assets, enhancing the use of renewables and support energy security and climate change challenges.

This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 870146.
